HENNING, IL -- To increase capacity and speed and to meet greater customer demand, Full-Fill Industries has installed a new high-tech can labeler to its key production line.

Line Leader

The BH Marathon© Labeler places vinyl labels on aluminum or steel cans at speeds between 50 and 200 cans per minute, according to Jonathon Clapp, Full-Fill's senior vice president, operations.

The Marathon© Labeler, manufactured by B&H Labeling Systems, features a SMARTdrive© system that offers less mechanical complexity than other

labeling machines. By reducing mechanical complexity, Marathon© delivers simpler operation, faster size changeovers and increased productivity, according to the company's website.

The new labeler, which was activated this week, is located on Full-Fill's high-speed Line 3. B&H says this equipment features:

Fast Size Changeovers:
15 minutes from production speed to production speed on straight configuration models, and 25 minutes from production speed to production speed on U configuration models.

40% Fewer Mechanical Components: fewer mechanical components and an all-electronic drive train means less maintenance and lower spare parts expense over the life of the machine.

Recipe Driven Repeatability: production parameters for every container and label combination are stored as recipes in the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). When the recipe is selected, the PLC sets all servo axis to the appropriate starting positions, eliminating the need for tedious and time consuming manual adjustments.

Advanced Registration Control + Invation™ Cutters: Marathon's Advanced Registration Control System combined with Invation Cutters increase productivity by keeping the labeler in-registration, even with stretch prone labels, labels with variable coefficients of friction, and labels with out-of-specification eyemarks.
